The Charter Extended Day program operates generally between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Depending upon client need, sufficient interest, and instructor availability, hours of operation at individual sites may vary. Check with the site instructor for exact times.
Closing time is at 6:00 p.m.; after 6:00 p.m., a $5.00 per quarter hour late charge will be assessed per child. Continual late pick-up will jeopardize your child’s enrollment in the Charter Extended Day program and result in increased late charges by quarter hour increments.

The Extended Day site instructors carefully plan high interest programs. A theme may be introduced, and activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, and music may revolve around the theme.
Homework time is a regular part of the daily program schedule. Children are assisted with homework and school projects. For those children who do not have homework, books, language arts games, and other activities are provided. This quiet period encourages good study skills.
Health is an important focus of Extended Day. A drink and/or snack is provided for each child each day. Students also participate in occasional special cooking projects that promote good nutrition. Outdoor supervised play is a favorite way to increase physical well-being and coordination. The school playground provides space for active games with friends.
Character Education is reinforced throughout the Charter Extended Day program. Character traits such as respect, responsibility, and friendship are reinforced in a variety of activities.

The Charter Extended Day program was developed in 1984 to respond to the working parents’ need for quality child care. Located on school campuses, Extended Day provides child care before, during, and after school, as well as school vacations or intersession times with sufficient interest. The programs allow children to go back and forth from school to child care without transportation by the parent. While in this safe, supervised environment, children participate in a variety of educationally enriched activities. School districts in El Dorado County request and host Extended Day programs. Full day programs serving kindergarten are offered at selected schools.
