Students, families and community members were glued to the stage, as Charter University Prep Drama students performed the thriller You Didn’t Say it Was Haunted by Michael Flynn. “The students rehearsed for many weeks and completed the experience by designing and producing the realistic set,” Principal Mike Harris noted. “They brought their characters to life with hard work and dedication.”
In the story, a movie director endeavors to make the scariest film ever and rents an old mansion. He tours the decaying grounds with his naïve assistant, while a group of amateur photographers trespass onto the property. Meanwhile, a dangerous criminal escapes from a nearby prison and hides in the old house. A murder scene is played in deadly earnest, as cameras continue to roll.
There are many opportunities for students to be creative and experience the arts at Charter University Prep, where students attend classes twice weekly and take college preparatory classes. Though blended learning, educators systematically strengthen students’ abilities to be rational, independently minded citizens who communicate effectively and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
