Local Gifted and Talented Education –Annual Guest Speaker Night

The El Dorado County Office of Education, in partnership with our local school districts, hosted an annual GATE Speaker Night on April 27, 2016.  Susan Whittington, Director of the American River Charter School, spoke at this year’s event, which is free of charge and open to all El Dorado County school district students, parents, staff, and community members.  Ms. Whittington’s presentation, Differentiation within the State Standards for GATE students, supports local teachers and parents as they focus on the diverse needs of gifted and talented learners.   The presentation discussed strategies for parents and teachers that advance higher level critical thinking skills, strong academic vocabulary, and develop a learning environment which encourages students to engage and strengthen their abilities.
