The CARE program at Markham Middle School was honored on November 14th, with a visit from Combat Veterans Robert Kinzel (Marines) and Veronica Salter (Army). Their visit included a presentation about their careers in the military, insight into the sacrifices made by those who serve, and reasons why students must protect the freedom of Americans, which includes regularly stating the Pledge of Allegiance.
The CARE (Community Action for Responsive Education) program provides high-quality alternative education for at-risk students in grades 7-12. The program builds on student strengths and assets while identifying and developing areas of need. Speakers such as Kinzel and Salter allow students to practice their communication skills while showcasing post high school career options that excite and interest CARE students.
