Youth Commission Application
Join the Youth Commission and make a difference in the El Dorado County community!
Each school year the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors (BOS) and the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) appoint student commissioners to gather and express the opinions, ideas, and visions of our county’s youth. Established in 2003, the Youth Commission has provided the opportunity for students to serve and make a difference in their community while gaining valuable leadership skills and knowledge about our county and local government.
To apply to become an El Dorado County Youth Commissioner, students must be enrolled in grades 9-12, reside in El Dorado County, and at least 13 years old. Applications are available the first two months of school at most high school counseling offices, as well as online at: charter.edcoe.org/resources/edc-youth-commission, and edcgov.us/Government/BOS.
Students praise the lifelong benefits of serving as a Youth Commissioner, including increased confidence in job interviews, applying for scholarships, and pushing through challenging college classes.
